The formula

Onboarding health = average of (category score ÷ 5 × 100) across all six categories

What the result means

Each category score is converted to a percentage of the maximum (a 4.0 average on a 1–5 scale becomes 80%), and the overall health score is the average across all six categories. Categories at 80% or above are strengths; categories below 60% are flagged as risk areas with a recommended next action.

There is no universal benchmark for a “good” onboarding health score — survey design, company stage and role mix all shift the numbers. The most reliable use of the score is comparing your own cohorts over time: if this quarter's new hires score higher than last quarter's after a process change, the change worked.
