The formula

Event satisfaction score = weighted average of (dimension rating ÷ 5 × 100), weighting overall satisfaction 40%, speakers & content 30%, and venue and organization 15% each

What the result means

Each dimension rating is converted to a percentage of the maximum (a 4.0 average on a 1–5 scale becomes 80%), then combined into a single weighted score. Overall satisfaction carries the most weight because it is the closest proxy for whether attendees would return; speakers and content come next; venue and organization each contribute the remaining share. When you leave organization blank, its weight is redistributed across the other dimensions.

The overall score is placed into a benchmark band — below average (under 60), average (60–75), good (75–85) or excellent (above 85) — so you can see at a glance where the event landed. These bands are a starting point for interpretation, not a universal standard: audience, event type and question wording all shift the numbers, so the most reliable comparison is against your own past events.

The lowest-scoring dimension drives the recommended next step, because that is usually where the biggest, fastest improvement is available before your next event. Read the open-text comments behind that dimension to understand the specific cause.
