Employee Satisfaction Survey Questions: 50+ by Category
The hardest part of an employee satisfaction survey is deciding what to ask. This page is a working question bank: more than fifty questions grouped by category, so you can copy the ones that fit your team and leave the rest.
Treat it as a menu, not a checklist. A good satisfaction survey rarely needs more than fifteen to twenty questions — pick the ones tied to a decision you will actually act on, mix question types, and always finish with at least one open-ended question.
For the full picture of how these questions fit into a program — cadence, anonymity, analysis and a complete example — start with the employee satisfaction survey guide. When you are ready to build, you can generate your survey with AI and edit every question afterward.
How to use this question bank
Each category below targets one driver of satisfaction. You do not need every question — choose two or three per driver that matter most to your organization right now. Keep scales consistent across the survey so results are comparable, and reuse the same questions each round so you can track a trend.
Likert statements (Strongly disagree → Strongly agree) measure agreement, rating scales measure intensity, multiple choice reveals priorities, yes/no gives quick checks, and open text explains the scores. A survey built from only one type tells a thin story.

- What is one thing we should keep doing?
- What is one thing we should change?
